IPTV on Apple TV — Complete Installation Guide

Apple TV doesn't come with an official IPTV app, but tvOS supports several excellent third-party players. This guide covers GSE Smart IPTV and Infuse, the two most reliable options for WorldBoxTV.

Option 1 — GSE Smart IPTV

GSE Smart IPTV is a dedicated live-TV player available directly on the App Store for Apple TV, with full Xtream Codes support.

  1. On your Apple TV, open the App Store
  2. Search for "GSE Smart IPTV" and install it
  3. Open the app and select Remote Playlists > Add
  4. Choose Xtream Codes API as the playlist type
  5. Enter your WorldBoxTV server URL, username and password
  6. Save — GSE loads your live channels, movies and series

Option 2 — Infuse (for VOD-focused viewing)

Infuse is primarily a media library app but supports M3U playlists well and offers a more polished interface for browsing VOD content.

  1. Install Infuse from the App Store (the free version works; Infuse Pro adds extra features but isn't required)
  2. Go to Settings > Add Files > Network Share > Add M3U Playlist
  3. Paste the M3U URL provided by WorldBoxTV
  4. Infuse indexes the content with rich metadata and artwork automatically

Which one should you use?

For live TV with an EPG grid similar to a normal cable box, GSE Smart IPTV is the better fit. For a Netflix-style browsing experience focused on movies and series, Infuse looks noticeably nicer. Many WorldBoxTV customers install both — GSE for live channels, Infuse for VOD.

AirPlay as a simpler alternative

If you'd rather not install anything on the Apple TV itself, you can run TiViMate or IPTV Smarters on an iPhone or iPad and AirPlay the stream to your Apple TV. This works but adds a small amount of latency compared to a native tvOS app.
