IPTV on Chromecast & Google TV — Complete Setup Guide
Chromecast with Google TV runs Android TV under the hood, which means it supports the same IPTV apps as any Android box — including full 4K playback. Here's how to get WorldBoxTV running.
Chromecast with Google TV vs older Chromecast dongles
This guide applies to Chromecast with Google TV (the remote-based model with a full Android TV interface and app store). Older Chromecast dongles without Google TV don't run apps directly — they only "cast" from a phone, which is a less stable way to watch IPTV and isn't covered here.
Step 1 — Install an IPTV player from the Google Play Store
- From the Google TV home screen, open the Apps section
- Search the Google Play Store for "TiViMate" or "IPTV Smarters Pro"
- Install your preferred player (TiViMate is generally recommended for its EPG and remote-friendly interface)
Step 2 — Add your WorldBoxTV credentials
- Open the app and choose Add playlist (TiViMate) or Login with Xtream Codes API (IPTV Smarters Pro)
- Enter the server URL, username and password from WorldBoxTV
- Confirm — the app loads your 150,000+ live channels and VOD library
Getting the best 4K experience
- Chromecast with Google TV 4K models support native 4K playback — make sure your TV and HDMI cable also support 4K
- Use a 5GHz Wi-Fi network or the optional Ethernet adapter for Chromecast to avoid bandwidth bottlenecks
- In TiViMate, set the decoder to hardware acceleration for smoother 4K decoding on Google TV's chipset
Alternative: casting from your phone
If you prefer, you can run TiViMate or IPTV Smarters on your Android phone and cast the video to any Chromecast device using the built-in Cast button. This works on the entry-level Chromecast (non-Google TV) models too, though a native install on Chromecast with Google TV gives a more stable, remote-controlled experience.
Common issues
Choppy playback on 4K channels
Lower the stream quality temporarily to confirm it's a bandwidth issue, then check your router placement and Wi-Fi band. See our internet speed guide for the bandwidth 4K IPTV actually requires.
App not appearing in the Play Store search
Confirm your Google TV software is updated (Settings > System > About > System update), as very old firmware occasionally restricts certain app listings.

Only by casting from a phone or tablet app — older Chromecast dongles don't run apps natively. For a full native experience with a remote, Chromecast with Google TV is required.
Yes, provided you have a Prime plan or above (which include native 4K channels) and a stable internet connection of at least 25 Mbps for smooth 4K streaming.
Both work well. TiViMate has a slightly more polished EPG grid and remote navigation; IPTV Smarters Pro has a more traditional menu layout. Try both — they're free to install.
