IPTV EPG Guide — How to Set Up the TV Guide

What is an EPG and why it matters

Without an EPG, an IPTV app just shows a list of channel names — no program titles, no schedule, no "what's on next." With the EPG configured, you get a proper grid view: current program, upcoming shows, and often a short description, exactly like a traditional cable box guide.

Getting your EPG URL from WorldBoxTV

Your WorldBoxTV activation message includes an EPG URL (XMLTV format) alongside your Xtream Codes or M3U credentials. If you can't find it, ask on WhatsApp support — it takes seconds to resend.

Setting up the EPG in TiViMate

1. Go to Settings (gear icon) > Playlists
2. Select your WorldBoxTV playlist
3. Under EPG, enable "Use built-in EPG" (loads automatically with Xtream Codes) or paste the EPG URL manually
4. Tap Update — data loads within a couple of minutes
5. Press the Guide button on your remote to view the 7-day grid

Setting up the EPG in IPTV Smarters Pro

1. Open Settings within the app
2. Select EPG Settings
3. Paste the XMLTV URL provided by WorldBoxTV
4. Save and return to the Live TV section — program info now appears under each channel

Setting up the EPG in VLC

VLC's IPTV support is more basic than dedicated players, but you can still load an XMLTV EPG file:

1. Open VLC and go to View > Playlist
2. Under the M3U service list, right-click and select "Show codec details" or use VLC's XSPF/M3U EPG import option depending on your VLC version
3. For most users, VLC is better suited to simple playback than to full EPG browsing — a dedicated player like TiViMate is recommended if the guide is important to you

Troubleshooting a blank or outdated EPG

EPG shows no data at all

Double-check the XMLTV URL for typos, and confirm the app has finished its initial sync — first loads can take several minutes depending on the number of channels.

EPG data seems out of date

Force a manual refresh from your player's playlist/EPG settings, and enable automatic daily updates if the option is available (TiViMate and IPTV Smarters both support this).

Some channels have no program info

EPG coverage varies slightly by channel and region. Core channels (major networks, sports, international news) are covered first; niche regional channels sometimes have partial or delayed EPG data.
